Key Terms to Know
Event Liability Coverage
Covers third-party bodily injury and property damage claims arising from the event — the most commonly required by venues and part of every standard event insurance policy.
Event Cancellation Coverage
Reimburses non-recoverable expenses if the event is canceled for a covered reason — weather, venue closure, key person illness. Must be purchased before the covered cause arises.
Host Liquor Liability
Covers alcohol-related incidents at events where the host provides alcohol at no charge. Not for businesses that sell alcohol commercially — those require a liquor liability policy.
Vendor Failure Coverage
Covers financial loss when a key vendor — caterer, DJ, photographer, venue — fails to show or perform for a covered reason. Not all event policies include this; confirm before buying.
